2021 Geoscience BC Scholarship Program Provides Valuable Lift to New Generation of Geoscientists

Vancouver, BC – June 25, 2021 – Geoscience BC’s 2021 scholarship recipients have been announced, providing a valuable lift to 10 post-graduate geoscience students working on minerals, energy exploration and development projects in British Columbia.

Each student will receive a $5,000 scholarship to support them as they conduct their applied geoscience research.

“Geoscience BC’s scholarship program is a key part of fulfilling our commitment to support post-graduate students working across British Columbia. It helps to develop talent, attract investment and boost competitiveness in British Columbia. Congratulations to all of this year’s recipients!” said Geoscience BC President and CEO Gavin C. Dirom.

Geoscience BC’s Scholarship Review Committee, which is made up of experienced geoscientists with a broad range of expertise, reviewed and evaluated applications. Scholarships are awarded to students based on their project's technical merit as well as their interest in natural resource development and management, volunteer work and academic progress.

Geoscience BC scholarships are awarded each year to up to 10 students who are registered and have started in a Masters (MSc) or Doctorate (PhD) program in earth science or geoscience. Since 2007, Geoscience BC has invested $670,000 to support students through scholarships.
