Summary
Following up on the success of the QUEST Project, Geoscience BC launched the QUEST-West Project in June 2008. The project helps to identify the mineral potential of over 40,000 km2 from Vanderhoof and Fort St. James to Terrace and Kitimat. The Regional Districts of Bulkley-Nechako and Kitimat-Stikine, Northern Development Initiative Trust and the BC Geological Survey (Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources) are partners with Geoscience BC on this project.
QUEST-West included two new airborne geophysical surveys, a new ground geochemical survey and additional geoscience data compilation. To date, Geoscience BC's Board has approved $4.5 Million for data collection, compilation, analysis and distribution. Geoscience BC's QUEST-West activities were funded by a generous $6 million grant from the Province of BC, and an additional $750,000 from the Regional District of Bulkley–Nechako and the Northern Development Initiative Trust.
