Geoscience BC Announces New Board Chair and Directors
Vancouver, BC - September 20, 2024 – Geoscience BC welcomed Maynard Angus and Janice Fingler to the Board of Directors at its 19th Annual General Meeting on September 19th, 2024.
Board Chair Donna Phillips stepped down from her position after two years as Chair, but will remain a Board Director. Lana Eagle was appointed Chair of the Board, having previously served as Vice Chair of the Board. Director Doug Donaldson was appointed Vice Chair of the Board.
Mike Gatens stepped down from his position after serving six years as a Director and Vice President External Relations Richard Truman will also be departing after serving over seven years on staff.
Commenting on the news, Board Chair Lana Eagle said: “We are delighted to welcome Maynard Angus and Janice Fingler to Geoscience BC‘s volunteer Board of Directors. Their experience and knowledge will help Geoscience BC continue to do relevant research that industry and communities want and to build a shared funding model that meets rapidly changing needs for independent public geoscience.”
She added: “We thank Mike Gatens and Richard Truman for their passion and commitment to Geoscience BC. I would also like to acknowledge Donna Phillips for her support and guidance as I take on the role of Board Chair.”
