Launching the Earth Science Viewer and New Data
October 7, 2015 - Our business is generating and delivering earth science data to stimulate
investment, employment and responsible development in British Columbia.
We're improving the delivery method by launching Earth Science
Viewer - an online tool that consolidates all project and report data
released through Geoscience BC and its project proponents.
After a period
of beta testing earlier in 2015, we are officially launching the new and
improved Earth Science Viewer at Geoscience BC Day on Oct 8, 2015.
The
HTML5 site can be viewed cross-platform and provides users with simple
mapping functionality and basic geoprocessing tasks through a web browser
without the need for specialized GIS software.
Geoscience BC are
also pleased to announce the release of four new reports:
Geoscience BC Report 2015-08: A Geo-exploration Atlas of the Endako Porphyry Molybdenum District An atlas of maps combining early exploration data and geological mapping with more recent geophysics and satellite imagery to provide an integrated, exploration-oriented view of BC's premier porphyry molybdenum district.
Geoscience BC Report 2015-10: Preliminary Geological Map of the TREK Project Area, Central British Columbia A draft version of the interpreted surface-of-bedrock geology of the under-explored TREK study area in British Columbia's Interior Plateau. The region is widely considered to have high exploration potential but the bedrock geology is poorly understood due to the masking effects of recent volcanic and sedimentary deposits.
Geoscience BC Report 2015-12: Regional Geochemical and Mineralogical Data - TREK Project Year 2, Interior Plateau, British Columbia As part of the larger TREK project, this contains geochemical and mineralogical data obtained from analysis of basal till samples that were collected throughout the area since 2013. Over 500 till samples were analysed and the results are provided in digital format and as maps.
Geoscience BC Report 2015-15: Toward an Improved Basis for Beneath-Cover Mineral Exploration in the QUEST Area, Central British Columbia: New Structural Interpretation of Geophysical and Geological Datasets This study takes a fresh look the QUEST area, focusing on the interpretation of magnetic and gravity data as it relates to the structural architecture and bedrock geology. The data can be used as a base layer for exploration for Porphyry style deposits in this highly prospective area.
