Geoscience BC -- Valuable New Data Now Available
VANCOUVER, BC -- July 6, 2017- Geoscience BC has posted valuable new earth science information and updates for nine of its minerals & mining, oil & gas and geothermal projects.
The projects provide open data to guide resource management decisions by First Nations, local communities, governments and the resource sector.

Minerals and Mining Projects
- 2016-001 - Re-examining the potential for undiscovered sulphide mineralization in BC's Belt-Purcell Basin using existing and publicly-available information.
- 2016-007 - Aiming to build an understanding of mineralization at Lara and Mount Washington by analyzing soil, plant and snow samples in the area.
- 2016-008 - Evaluates the effectiveness of using portable photometers and voltammeters which measure light as it passes through a water sample to provide quality, same-day water analyses for mineral exploration.
- 2016-015 - Reanalyzing over 5,500 stream sediment samples originally taken between 1977 and 1991 to show how they could indicate undiscovered minerals across British Columbia.
- 2016-019 - Identify exploration targets, using multiple variables, to analyse new and existing till and lake sediment samples.
- 2016-067 - Using the Roben Jig Process testing if water-based processes can be used as an alternative to organic chemicals to wash and analyse metallurgical coal to determine its economic value.

- 2015-031 - Learning to better understand the nature of seismic events relating to hydraulic fracturing and water disposal in the Montney Play and to develop new monitoring methods and find new ways of reducing and managing risk.
- 2016-062 - Understanding how and where seismic waves travelling through softer soils and sediments in the Montney can be amplified.
- 2016-047 - Assessing the resource potential and cost of geothermal power production in northeastern BC.
