Geoscience BC QUEST-Northwest Project Update

July 20, 2011 -Geoscience BC is pleased to report that the QUEST-Northwest Project is underway.

The QUEST-Northwest Project is a geoscience initiative designed by Geoscience BC to stimulate new mineral exploration activity in the northwest part of the Province, and to enhance the success of existing exploration activities in the region. It consists of three main activities: regional bedrock mapping, airborne magnetic surveys, and a regional ground geochemical program (see map below for detailed survey outlines).

  • The QUEST-Northwest regional bedrock mapping component is a partnership between Geoscience BC and the BC Geological Survey (Ministry of Energy and Mines). The mapping is being led by the BC Geological Survey and is currently underway. The field crews are based out of Dease Lake and are scheduled to be in the field until the end of August.
  • Two high-resolution (250m line-spacing) airborne magnetic surveys are being undertaken in the Dease Lake and Telegraph Creek areas. The Dease Lake survey is being carried out by Aeroquest Airborne using HiWood Helicopters and is expected to start early August. Field crews will be based out of Iskut and Dease Lake. The Telegraph Creek survey is being conducted by Geo Data Solutions GDS Inc. using Mustang Helicopters and is also expected to start early August. Field crews will be based out of Telegraph Creek.
  • The QUEST-Northwest geochemical sampling program being carried out by Noble Exploration Services Ltd. will start early August in the Telegraph Creek area.
