Geoscience BC at the Mineral Exploration Roundup 2013 Conference

January 24, 2013-Come see Geoscience BC at AME BC's Mineral Exploration Roundup Conference (January 28-31st at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver):

Northern Vancouver Island Airborne Magnetic Survey Data Release Event
(Monday, January 28th at 11 am)

Geoscience BC will be releasing airborne magnetic survey results from Northern Vancouver Island on Monday, January 28th, at 11:00 am. Please join us at the north end of the Poster Session (entrance closest to the coat-check) in the Westin Bayshore Ballroom (Main Floor) to view the first results of the Northern Vancouver Island Exploration Geoscience Project. USB drives with all of Geoscience BC's Roundup data releases will be available at the event.

Poster Session
(Monday, January 28th from 10 am to 5 pm)

Geoscience BC will once again have a full complement of posters at the Mineral Exploration Roundup in Vancouver. This year, Geoscience BC proponents, associates and scholarship winners will exhibit 20 posters at the Roundup poster session, which will be held on January 28th from 10 am to 5 pm in the Westin Bayshore Ballroom.

These posters highlight much of Geoscience BC's ongoing work around the province, including:

  • The Northern Vancouver Island Exploration Geoscience Project (geophysics and regional geochemical programs),
  • The QUEST-Northwest Project (new geophysics),
  • Geoscience BC's Next Major Minerals Project,
  • Joint Geoscience BC - MDRU initiatives,
  • Geoscience BC projects in southeast BC and central BC, and
  • Updates from 2012 Geoscience BC Scholarship Winners.
The Geological Survey of Canada, BC Geological Survey and university students will also be displaying posters. The list of Geoscience BC-affiliated posters is now available through our website at: https://www.geosciencebc.com. Geoscience BC's website will be updated with PDF's of Geoscience BC-affiliated posters in early February.

Technical Session: Public Geoscience: A Resource for You
(Tuesday, January 29th from 8:30 am to 11:30 am)

Two talks in the session will give updates on Geoscience BC-sponsored projects (from 10:50 am to 11:30 am):

  • "The Use of Organic Media in the Geochemical Detection of Blind Porphyry Cu-Au Mineralization at the Woodjam Project, BC " -- Dave Heberlein (Heberlein Geoconsulting)
  • "Linking Physical Rock Properties to Porphyry Alteration and Mineralization: Examples from the QUEST and QUEST-West Project Areas " -- Dianne Mitchinson (Mira Geoscience Ltd.)

The session also features talks from the BC Geological Survey, Geological Survey of Canada and the Yukon Geological Survey.

Geoscience BC Booth
(Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday, January 31st, all day)

Come by Geoscience BC's booth (F27) to learn about current and upcoming Geoscience BC projects. We'll have copies of our Summary of Activities 2012 volume (our annual technical volume) in both print and digital form. We'll also be giving away USB drives with the Northern Vancouver Island and QUEST-Northwest airborne magnetic survey data, as well as all other data sets that will be released on January 28th. Maps from previous Geoscience BC projects will be available for viewing in hard copy and digital formats.
