Geoscience BC Appoints Two New Directors to the Board

Vancouver, BC -- September 11, 2009 -- Geoscience BC is pleased to announce the appointment of the following new Directors to its Board: Calvin Helin, principal of Calvin Helin Personal Law Corporation; and Greg Reimer, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.

Calvin Helin is one of Canada's most well known Aboriginal lawyers, and is recognized nationally for his influential business activities in Aboriginal Canada. Mr. Helin has been active in the creation and direction of many not-for-profit organizations. He is founding President of the Native Investment and Trade Association; founding Vice-President of the National Aboriginal Business Association; and Director of the National Board of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business. In addition, Mr. Helin is founding Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of Aboriginal Global Investment Management Inc.; a Director of Vancouver Television Inc.; President of Pan Pacific Aboriginal Trade Co. Inc.; and a Director of Praxis Technical Group Inc. Mr. Helin is a former Director of the Vancouver Board of Trade.

Greg Reimer was appointed Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources in June 2005. Previously, Mr. Reimer was Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Provincial Revenue. His 25 years in government bring a wealth of experience and broad knowledge to the Board, having worked extensively with client groups and inter-provincial committees throughout British Columbia and Canada. Currently, Greg is Chair of the Oil and Gas Commission and sits on the boards of the Integrated Land Management Bureau and the BC Bioenergy Network. He has led the development of many major initiatives, including the BC Energy Plan, which has led to successes in the electricity and oil and gas sectors.

These new directors join the following continuing Directors: John Thompson, Vice President Technology and Development at Teck Resources Limited and Chair of the Board; David Caulfield, Co-Chairman and Director of Business Development of Kiska Metals Corporation; Tony Fogarassy, Director of Corporate Projects and General Counsel for NaiKun Wind Energy Group Inc.; Byng Giraud, Senior Director, Policy & Communications with AME BC; James D. Gray, Partner of Vancouver-based De Visser Gray Chartered Accountants LLP; David James, Senior Consultant to the oil & gas industry and formerly Manager of Geology with Anadarko Canada; Dan Miller, member of the board of directors of BC Ferries, the BC Safety Authority, and the Canada West Foundation, and former Premier of British Columbia; David Strong, founder of University Canada West and former President of the University of Victoria; David Taylor, Vice President, Business Development, Petro Andina Resources Inc.; and 'Lyn Anglin, President and CEO of Geoscience BC.

Harlan Meade, President and CEO of Selwyn Resources Ltd., has completed his three year term on the Board. Gordon Loverin of T'senaglobe Media Inc. has also stepped down from the Board to provide media and aboriginal relations consulting services to Geoscience BC.
