Geoscience BC Announces Carlos Salas as Vice-President, Oil & Gas

June 4, 2012 -Geoscience BC is pleased to announce that Carlos Salas has accepted the position of Vice-President, Oil & Gas.

Carlos will provide oil & gas-related scientific and technical leadership to Geoscience BC, directing new and existing Geoscience BC initiatives related to the exploration and development of oil and gas resources in British Columbia. He will work closely with industry and Geoscience BC's advisers to identify project opportunities, design and deliver new projects, and coordinate activities with partner organizations. Carlos will also engage with the public and industry to provide information on oil & gas resources in B.C., and Geoscience BC's role in promoting these resources.

Carlos is a geologist with over twenty five years of wide-ranging industry experience in all facets of oil and gas exploration, and has held senior positions, along with directorships in public and private companies. Initially schooled as a fluvial sedimentologist (B.Sc. McMaster University, M.Sc. University of Ottawa, 1986) and later cross-trained as a seismic interpretor at Shell, Carlos has used his well-rounded technical background as an explorationist throughout the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Northern and Eastern Canada, and various basins throughout the United States. Until recently, Carlos was Managing Director at Canadian Discovery Ltd. where he provided technical guidance and mentorship along with petrophysical and geophysical support for their various business arms.

Carlos is a professional geologist (P.Geol) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), a member of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists and a member of the Canadian Well Logging Society.
