Carlos Salas appointed as Geoscience BC Executive Vice President & Chief Scientific Officer

December 18, 2017 - Geoscience BC President & CEO Gavin C. Dirom and Board Chair Mike Cathro have today announced the appointment of Carlos Salas to Executive Vice President & Chief Scientific Officer.

Previously Vice President, Energy, Mr. Salas has over thirty years of technical and management experience in the natural resources sector. He holds a Masters of Science in geology and is a registered professional geoscientist in British Columbia.

"Carlos started with Geoscience BC in May 2012 and has shown dedicated service to the organization year after year," said Gavin C. Dirom.

He added, "In his new role, Carlos will act as the head coordinator of our Technical Advisory Committees and will be responsible for developing and managing a multi-year Scientific Project Plan that will support Geoscience BC's Strategic Plan & Objectives for 2018-2022."

Mr. Salas will also join the Geoscience BC Board of Directors in 2018.

Commenting on the appointment, Mike Cathro said: "On behalf of the Board of Directors, I wish to congratulate Carlos on his promotion. This enhanced role will capitalize on his strengths of building partnerships and delivering sound scientific projects that benefit all British Columbians."
