The GAC-Cordilleran Section invites you to its second annual Cordilleran Metallogeny Workshop. This year's theme is Porphyry Settings. With a focus on British Columbia and Yukon, we will look beyond the pit limits and examine the tectonic settings and broader geological controls of Cordilleran porphyry deposits. Early fee (before April 6) professional $ 130.00 plus 5% GST* = $ 136.50 Late fee (after April 6) professional $ 160.00 plus 5% GST* = $ 168.00 Student fee (with ID) $ 35.00 plus 5% GST* = $ 36.75 Our slate of invited local and international speakers will examine the history of how understanding of Cordilleran tectonics has evolved during the past 50 years, what the state-of-the-art thinking is today, and how porphyry mineralization fits into current tectonic models. We will look particularly at the gold-rich alkaline porphyries and examine keys to their emplacement in Cordilleran settings. The workshop will culminate with a presentation linking geoscientific research with exploration targeting. A panel discussion including the day's speakers will close the meeting. Following last year's successful Edges workshop model, the Porphyry Settings Workshop will include coffee break refreshments, lunch and a post-workshop social hour.
