New Geoscience BC Membership Opportunities to Boost Research Collaboration

Vancouver, BC – January 31, 2022 – Geoscience BC has launched new membership opportunities that make it easier for a wider range of partners to provide more input on, and benefit from, Geoscience BC research priorities and project ideas.

Corporate, Individual, Student and Associate memberships are designed to bring together industry, academia, communities, Indigenous groups and governments to achieve shared goals and increase the impact of Geoscience BC research.

Commenting on the news, Geoscience BC President and CEO Gavin C. Dirom said: “The transition to a lower carbon economy increases demand for British Columbia’s natural resources. New Geoscience BC membership opportunities will increase collaboration and help ensure we deliver the research that is needed to inform evidence-based decisions, including those relating to critical minerals and metals supply, emissions reduction and cleaner energy generation."

The new membership structure will also help to leverage investments in Geoscience BC’s public earth science research, and provide more flexible yet stable long-term funding mechanisms that enhance its independence. As well, it will demonstrate and further build support for Geoscience BC’s independent, public earth science research.

Further details on Geoscience BC membership opportunities and benefits are available on the Geoscience BC website. If you have any questions about membership, please contact us at membership@geosciencebc.com
