Save the Date: Central Interior Copper-Gold Research Update, April 27, 2021
Vancouver, BC – April 8, 2021 – Geoscience BC researchers will provide an update on the latest research from our Central Interior Copper-Gold Research (CICGR) project series as part of the 2021 Kamloops Exploration Group (KEG) Technical Talk Lunch Series at 12:00 PM Pacific Time on April 27, 2021.
Dianne Mitchinson, Research Associate at the University of British Columbia’s Mineral Deposit Research Unit (MDRU), and Dave Sacco, Senior Surficial Exploration Specialist at Palmer, will provide updates on their CICGR projects. The projects are designed to highlight potential mineral deposits buried under glacial deposits in the highly prospective area between the Gibraltar (Williams Lake) mine in the south and the Mount Milligan (Mackenzie) mine in the north, and will help focus mineral exploration, attract investment and assist more informed natural resource decisions.
Pre-registration is not required, and the presentations are free to attend. The webinar begins with a 20-minute presentation, followed by a question-and-answer session. Talks will be available to watch on-demand after the webinar.

- Dave Sacco will discuss the CICGR Surficial Exploration Project, which is generating new surficial geology maps to provide the glacial framework necessary to interpret till geochemical and mineralogical anomalies and trace them back to their bedrock source. The maps inform an ongoing till sampling survey in underexplored areas and, when combined with the reanalysis of archived historical till samples and the glacial framework, will provide the high-quality baseline data necessary to identify areas of mineral exploration interest.
- Dianne Mitchinson will present work to date on the Identification of New Porphyry Potential Under Cover in Central British Columbia project, which is using existing Geoscience BC and other publicly available geophysical data to identify, map and model prospective copper-gold deposits and related rocks in part of the Quesnel terrane.
