Geoscience BC is pleased to announce the appointment of Christa Sluggett as Project Geologist and Communications Coordinator
February 20, 2007 - Ms. Sluggett will be responsible for GBC's geoscience project management, including administration of project agreements, technical oversight, and assisting in identifying, designing and encouraging proposals on key projects that will fill strategic applied geoscience data gaps and attract new exploration investment to BC. In addition, she will play a key role in communicating and marketing GBC's results to clients and stakeholders, particularly communities, First Nations and other interested members of the public.
Christa obtained her B.Sc. in Geology from the University of British Columbia in 2003. While attending UBC, Christa worked at the Pacific Center for Isotopic and Geochemical Research as a Research Assistant in the Uranium-Lead Geochronology lab, a position she remained in following graduation. Christa began working toward her M.Sc. in Geology at Simon Fraser University in 2004, focusing on Quaternary valley basalts in south-central British Columbia, a project she plans to complete in the coming months.
Christa is replacing Marlene Mathison, who has become Manager, Corporate Relations at Far West Mining Ltd. We thank Marlene for her hard work and dedication over the past few months and wish her the best in her future endeavors.
