New science and new scientists are vital in developing the innovative earth science needed for responsible resource development.
More than 90 MSc and PhD students working on BC-based mineral, oil and gas, coal or geothermal exploration and/or development thesis topics have been funded by Geoscience BC.
Each year, scholarships are awarded to students based on their project's technical merit, the ability of the project to attract investment to BC, the student's interest in exploration and development and his or her academic qualifications.
Masters students may receive the Geoscience BC scholarship only once during their program. Successful PhD students may apply for a second year of scholarship funding provided they can demonstrate that they have made significant progress in their studies.
The application process usually opens in the spring, with a submission deadline in late April.
