April 15, 2014 Geoscience BC announces the appointment of Jeff Hamilton as GIS Specialist
Geoscience BC is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Hamilton as GIS Specialist to provide GIS and cartographic services to Geoscience BC, its project consultants and its clients. The duties of this role include designing and developing a web mapping application that serves as Geoscience BC's data discovery and dissemination portal. In addition, he will design and produce maps in support of geoscience project design, communications, and data distribution.
Jeff has a technical background in mining and mineral exploration and is a graduate of the Geographic Information Systems advanced diploma program at BCIT. As a student, he focused on ways to leverage GIS for natural resource industries including applying mineral prospectivity modeling and predictive mapping techniques to real-world datasets. Jeff's work experience includes providing support to field crews through the collection of geological, geochemical, and geophysical data in regional and advanced exploration projects throughout Nunavut, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec.
Most recently, Jeff worked with Gold Fields Canada Exploration as a GIS and database administrator where he performed a variety of responsibilities including managing and updating project databases, implementing and monitoring laboratory QA/QC procedures and creating and managing spatial databases.
Jeff succeeds Fion Ma as Geoscience BC's GIS Specialist. Geoscience BC thanks Fion for her 5 years of dedicated service to the organization, its consultants, and its users.
