Geoscience BC Releases Four Reports at Mineral Exploration Roundup

Geoscience BC is pleased to announce the release of the following four reports:
  • Report 2013-01: Geoscience BC Summary of Activities 2012
  • Report 2013-03: Heliborne High Resolution Aeromagnetic Survey: QUEST-Northwest Project Area, BC, Block 3
  • Report 2013-04: Lardeau (NTS 082K) Sample Reanalysis (ICP-MS)
  • Report 2013-06: McLeod Lake (NTS 093J) Sample Reanalysis (INAA)

All four reports are now available for download through Geoscience BC's website at
www.geosciencebc.com/s/DataReleases.asp.

Brief descriptions of each report are provided below.

Please note that Report 2013-02 "Heliborne High Resolution Aeromagnetic Survey: Northern Vancouver Island, BC" will be released today at 11:00 am. Please join Geoscience BC at 11:00 am in the Westin Bayshore Ballroom at Mineral Exploration Roundup (poster session) for the data release.

Geoscience BC Summary of Activities 2012, Report 2013-01
Available at 8:00 am on Monday, January 28th

Summary of Activities is Geoscience BC's annual technical publication. This year the volume includes fifteen papers, which highlight the work of new, ongoing and recently completed Geoscience BC-funded projects. The entire volume is accessible online, and limited digital and print copies will be available from Geoscience BC's Roundup Booth (F27) on January 30 and 31 (Wednesday and Thursday) at no charge.

Past Summary of Activities volumes are available on Geoscience BC's website at: http://www.geosciencebc.com/s/SummaryofActivities.asp?ReportID=358403

Geoscience BC Report 2013-03: Heliborne High Resolution Aeromagnetic Survey: QUEST-Northwest Project Area, BC, Block 3
Available at 8:00 am on Monday, January 28th

Geoscience BC Report 2012-03 presents the results of the QUEST-Northwest Block 3 airborne magnetic survey, located near the community of Iskut, BC. Geo Data Solutions Inc. flew the survey during July and August of 2012. The survey was flown at a line spacing of 250 m, and the total survey coverage is 5746 line-km.

The report also includes 2200 line-km of airborne magnetic data purchased from New Chris Minerals Ltd. This dataset was collected in late 2011 and early 2012 at a 100 m line-spacing, and lies in the center of the QUEST-Northwest Block 3 area.

For more information on the QUEST-Northwest Project, including the Block 1 and 2 airborne magnetic surveys released in 2012, go to http://www.geosciencebc.com/s/Quest-Northwest.asp

Geoscience BC Report 2013-04: Lardeau (NTS 082K) Sample Reanalysis (ICP-MS), Southeast BC
Available at 8:00 am on Monday, January 28th

Geoscience BC Report 2013-04 presents ICP-MS results for stream sediment samples collected during the original 1977 Lardeau RGS program in southeast BC. The Lardeau regional geochemical survey was conducted in 1977 and included the collection of 1297 stream sediment samples. In co-operation with the BC Geological Survey and Natural Resources Canada, samples saved from the survey work were retrieved from storage facilities in Ottawa. A total of 1435 drainage-sediment and quality-control samples were subsequently delivered to Acme Analytical Laboratories Ltd. (Vancouver, BC) and analyzed by an ultra-trace aqua-regia digestion (0.5 g) ICP-MS technique for 53 elements. The data have been carefully checked for analytical quality using blind duplicate samples and control reference material. When determined to be complete and accurate, the reanalysis data were merged with sample site location information acquired from the original survey publication.

Geoscience BC Report 2013-06: McLeod Lake (NTS 093J) Sample Reanalysis (INAA)
Available at 8:00 am on Monday, January 28th

Geoscience BC Report 2013-06 presents INAA results for stream sediment samples collected during the original 1985 McLeod Lake RGS program. The McLeod Lake regional geochemical survey was conducted in 1985 (near Prince George) and included the collection of 1152 stream sediment samples. In co-operation with the BC Geological Survey and Natural Resources Canada, samples saved from the survey work were retrieved from storage facilities in Ottawa. A total of 1273 drainage-sediment and quality-control samples were subsequently delivered to Becquerel Laboratories Inc. (Mississauga, ONT) and analyzed by INAA for 35 elements. The data have been carefully checked for analytical quality using blind duplicate samples and control reference material. When determined to be complete and accurate, the reanalysis data were merged with sample site location information acquired from the original survey publication.
