Geoscience BC Releases Report 2010-16: 2-D Land Joint Inversion of Seismic, Magnetotelluric and Gravity for Pre-Stack Depth Migration Imaging
| ||Geoscience BC is pleased to announce the release of Geoscience BC Report 2010-16 "2-D Land Joint Inversion of Seismic, Magnetotelluric and Gravity for Pre-Stack Depth Migration Imaging" by WesternGeCo MDIC.|
Geoscience BC Report 2010-16 is available from the Data section of Geoscience BC's website: www.geosciencebc.com/s/DataReleases.asp.
The Nechako seismic dataset was acquired in 2008 and was previously released as Geoscience BC Report 2009-09. The processing released today as Geoscience BC Report 2010-16 is aimed at better defining the regional structure of the Nechako basin, which is largely covered by volcanic rock of variable thickness. The processing is based on a joint inversion technique using different geophysical domains such as seismic, gravity and magnetotellurics in order to obtain a better velocity model.
This report contains a technical report describing the analysis and processing applied to the Nechako Basin 2-D data set, as well as nine Pre-Stack Depth Migration (PSDM) datasets in sgy format (filtered PSDM stack, PSDM converted to time stack and PSDM final velocity field files for seismic lines 05, 10, and 15).
The report is the final project deliverable for GBC Project 2009-043 (www.geosciencebc.com/s/2009-043.asp).
Geoscience BC is an industry-led, industry-focused not-for-profit society. Its mandate includes the collection, interpretation and marketing of geoscience data and expertise to promote investment in resource exploration and development in British Columbia. Geoscience BC is funded through grants from the Provincial Government and works in partnership with industry, academia, government, First Nations and communities to attract mineral and oil & gas investment to BC.
