Geoscience BC announces Results of Fall 2007 Request for Proposals and new Minerals Technical Advisory Committee Chair

Geoscience BC (GBC) is pleased to announce that eleven proposals submitted in response to GBC's latest request for proposals (issued Sept 13, 2007) have been approved or approved-in-principle for funding. Geoscience BC will contribute over $500,000 to these projects, which will generate new geoscience information and help attract exploration investment across the province. Further details on each of these projects will be released as project agreements are finalized.

Geoscience BC is also pleased to announce the appointment of Garth Kirkham as chair of Geoscience BC's Minerals Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). The Minerals TAC, which is responsible for reviewing and recommending proposals under consideration by Geoscience BC, is composed of representatives of BC's mineral exploration industry. Garth currently represents Geoscience BC as Vice President, Industry Liaison, as well as Kirkham Geosystems Ltd.

The Minerals TAC was previously led by Dr. Rob Stevens (BCIT), who stepped down as TAC chair at the end of 2007. Geoscience BC would like to thank Rob for the invaluable contributions he made to GBC over the last three years, and wish him well in his new role as Chair of the Association for Mineral Exploration of British Columbia (AME BC).
