Geoscience BC Welcomes New Manager, Energy and Water Laura Wytrykush

Vancouver, BC - October 29, 2018 -Geoscience BC welcomes Laura Wytrykush to the new position of Manager, Energy and Water. Laura is a registered professional engineer with a master's degree in engineering and she will be responsible for the implementation and technical management of Geoscience BC's energy and water-related research projects.

Reporting to President and CEO Gavin C. Dirom and working closely with Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer Carlos Salas, Laura will be instrumental in meeting the objectives set out in Geoscience BC's Strategic Plan 2018-2022 for oil and gas and geothermal research projects, as well as water-related research.

Commenting on the news, Carlos Salas said: "Everyone at Geoscience BC is excited about Laura getting started. Her new role will help us to provide the independent and relevant earth science research that helps to improve knowledge, inform responsible decisions, catalyze investment and socio-economic opportunities and to stimulate innovation and earth science technologies."

Laura has experience working as a hydrogeologist on both mineral and energy projects in Western Canada. Before joining Geoscience BC, she was a Senior Hydrogeologist for PetroChina Canada where she provided technical expertise for the water resources portion of project development, monitoring, and compliance programs for a steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) start-up project. Prior to PetroChina Canada, she worked as a consultant with Golder Associates.
