Geoscience BC Seeks GIS Specialist

March 14, 2014 - Geoscience BC is a non-profit, non-government, applied geoscience organization mandated to encourage mineral and oil & gas exploration and development investment in British Columbia. This is accomplished through the generation, interpretation and distribution of publicly available geoscience data in partnership with First Nations, communities, governments and industry.

As a non-government and non-profit organization, Geoscience BC is flexible, responsive and entrepreneurial. It also has a unique ability to engage with communities and other non-government organizations in design and delivery of geoscience programs, and provide information to the public about geoscience related to the mineral and oil & gas exploration sectors. Since its inception in April 2005, Geoscience BC has received $48.7 million in Provincial government funding to undertake a large number of mineral and energy geoscience initiatives in British Columbia.

We are presently seeking to fill the role of GIS Specialist to assist us in providing quality GIS and cartographic services to support Geoscience BC's staff, project team consultants, and project proponents.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the GIS Specialist is responsible for the acquisition, management and dissemination of spatial data and the design and production of maps for project planning and publications. This role offers the opportunity to work independently on a variety of different projects as the GIS expert for Geoscience BC.
