Geoscience BC Announces New Board Chair and Directors

Vancouver, BC - September 21, 2018 - Geoscience BC has today announced the appointment of Stephanie Killam as Chair of the Board, and the appointment of Mike Gatens and Jeff Christian to its Board of Directors effective September 20, 2018.

Mike Cathro steps down from the Board of Directors after seven years of service, the last three as Chair of the Board. Directors Brad Armstrong who has served for four years and Richard Dunn who has served for eight years are also stepping down.

Stephanie Killam

Stephanie Killam is actively involved in the community and currently serves on many boards and associations. She has previously held the position of Mayor and municipal councillor in the District of Mackenzie, BC. Stephanie has served on the Board of Geoscience BC since 2010.

Mike Gatens

Mike Gatens founded Unconventional Gas Resources Canada in 2007. He previously founded MGV Energy in 1997, which became a wholly owned Canadian subsidiary of Quicksilver Resources in 2000. Mr. Gatens received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Jeff Christian

Jeff Christian is a partner at Lawson Lundell LLP, practicing law exclusively in the energy and natural resource sectors. He represents clients before regulatory tribunals such as the BC Oil and Gas Commission, National Energy Board, and Alberta Utilities Commission. He has a background in geotechnical engineering and earth sciences.
