Out Now: Geoscience BC Annual Report 2020-21

Vancouver, BC – May 4, 2021 – Geoscience BC’s Annual Report 2020-21 highlights innovative and collaborative research projects in British Columbia that are contributing to BC’s economic recovery, lower emission future and stronger relationships with Indigenous groups, industry, local governments and academia.

The Annual Report 2020-21 serves as a report card against the Geoscience BC Strategic Plan 2018-2022. It provides an overview of our Minerals, Energy (Oil & Gas; Geothermal) and Water research, as well as an update on our Governance, Management & Finance, Public Access & Data Management and External Relations & Communications focus areas.

In their introduction message, Chair of the Board Stephanie Killam and President & CEO Gavin C. Dirom state: “The COVID-19 pandemic made 2020 and early 2021 a period of significant change, challenge and adaptation for society globally. As we look to economic recovery there is an opportunity to build on British Columbia’s successes and leverage our existing competitive advantages, with an important role for organizations like Geoscience BC.”

Previous Geoscience BC annual reports have covered calendar years. This has now been changed to bring reporting in line with our fiscal year, which starts on April 1. The Annual Report 2020-21 covers January 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.
